Biography

Filippo Balducci... an absolutely extraordinary musical talent, a pianist of unusual insight, maturity and artistic imagination… His keen intelligence, impeccable musical taste and sophisticated technique afford him interpretations of extreme beauty and emotional power… (Lev Natochenny).

He graduated from the Conservatory of Music “N.Piccinni” of Bari with full marks, honours and special mention, as pupil of Angela Montemurro.
After graduated, he studied with M° Fausto Zadra, at the “Ecole Internationale de Piano” of Lousanne, and with M° Aquiles Delle Vigne at the Ecole Normale “A.Cortot” of Paris. The professional relationships with M° Montemurro, Fausto Zadra and Aquiles Delle Vigne have been fundamental for his vocational training.
Moreover, he attended Masterclasses with Sergio Fiorentino, Jorg Demus, Gyorgy Sandor, Paul Badura Skoda, Michele Marvulli, Luis De Maura Castro, Lev Natochenny, Vladimir Feltsmann, at the most important training Academies of Europe and USA: among the others it should be remembered the Festival of Merano, the University of Hartford-Connecticut, the Pianistic Academy of Imola, the Musical Academy of Pescara. In those circumstances, he won several scholarships on merit and was hired for concerts.
It has been very profitable and stimulating the confrontation with Benedetto Lupo, with whom he took a II-level piano degree.

F. Balducci has succeeded in several national and international piano-competitions since very young: he won First Prize (absolute) at competitions such as those of Osimo, Lamezia T. and Caserta; Second Prize at “S. Rachmaninoff” competition of Morcone and at “F.Liszt” of Lucca. Third Prize in Senigallia. His most important successes in international piano competitions are: First Prize at “F. Neglia” of Enna; Second Prize in Pinerolo and Second Prize ex aequo (First not assigned) at A.M.S.A World Piano Competition of Cincinnati - USA.

His brilliant activity as concert artist, started since he was only 13, drove him to perform in the most important Italian cities (Arezzo, Bari, Campobasso, Grosseto, Merano, Milano, Varese, Napoli, Pescara, Perugia, Ravello, Roma, Taranto, Trieste…) and foreign ones (Paris, Nice, Lausanne, Lugano, Mannheim, Madrid, Bilbao, Izola, Adana, Hartford, Cincinnati). He performed also as a solo with several orchestras: the Camerata Mozart of Lousanne, the Italian Philharmonics, the International Orchestra of Magna Grecia, the Insubric Orchestra, the Turkish State Symphony Orchestra, the New Philarmony Orchestra, the “Mario Gusella” Orchestra of Pescara, the Chamber EurOchestra of Bari, the Italian Symphonietta and other Orchestras conducted by Marc Andreae, Enrique Batiz, Maurizio Billi, Umberto Cattini, Josif Conta, Roberto Gianola, Beat Hofstetter, Julius Kalmar, Francesco Lentini, Giovanni Battista Mazza, Domenico Molinini, Roberto Misto, Aldo Sisillo, Fausto Zadra.

He recorded for the Second National Italian network (RAI) and for WGUC of Cincinnati.
He participated to the Festival "Monografie sul '900 e dintorni", performing, with the pianist Anna Maria Strano, the Dialogue VII for two Pianos and Orchestra by Gianfrancesco Malipiero. The Festival, which obtained the prestigious Critic's Prize "Franco Abbiati", was recorded by Stradivarius.
F. Balducci has driven particular attention to Chamber Music too, since 1994, when he attended the course “Giovani pianisti d’Europa nella musica da camera” (Young Pianists of Europe in Chamber Music) with Pavel Vernikov and Fausto Zadra. He has performed important pages from the repertoire for piano and arches, from the Duet to the Quintet, in prestigious seats, such as the Auditorium “De Singel” of Anversa, the Real Conservatory of Bruxelles, the Euro-festival of Camerino. He attended several Chamber-music courses with the Trio of Triest, Konstantin Bogino and Igor Oistrach.

Winner of three teaching-post competitions, he is nowadays Maestro of Piano at the Conservatory of Bari. He was assistant of M° Zadra at the Ecole Internationale de Piano of Lausanne and at the International Festival of the Mediterranean of Cullera, Valencia; he was also assistant of M° Delle Vigne at the Bain de Musique Festival of Flaine. He holds Masterclasses at the “Aurofonie” Academy of Lugano, the EchoMusic Association of Monopoli and at the “D.Sarro” Association of Trani. He was in National and international Juries.
